SVAI22AOE COUNT® COUNCIO, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN ihat at a Special Meeting of th» Wallace County Council, held at the Council Chambers, Otautau, on the 21st day of August, 1998, the ••fol*lowing resolution (by way of Special Order) was passed : “In pursuance of the powers and authorities contained in ‘‘The Counties Act I88j6," “The Public Works Act 1905,” and all other enabling powers provisions and authorities contained in any other Acts or otherwise vested in It, the Council of the Wallace County doth hereby by this Special Order make and ordaia the following By-law amending the Bylaws passed by the said Council on the 16th day of August 1907 and ccn*- . firmed by resolution and sealed on the 20th day, of September 1907, such By-law to come into operation on the 9th day of November 190S.*' AND the following, is a statement of the object or purport of such-By-law : To amend the By-laws passed by i the said Council on the 16th day ojT , August 1907 and confirmed by rbso- ] lution and sealed on- the 20th day 6f September 1907 in the following re- -j spools i (a) To repeal Section 22 of the , said By-laws and to substitute , therefor the following : ( “ 22. Whenever the driver', or per- ) son in charge of any traction engine j travelling on any road! shall a P t proach, meet or overtake any horse x then being led, ridden, or driven or £ any cattle then driven or in charge i of any person or shall from any < causa whatever be unable to have a £ clear and uninterrupted view of the r said road or of the traffic thereon 3 for at least 50 yards ahead of such f engine the said driver or person in r charge of such engine shall atop and r before proceeding further shall cause r a man to go in advance cl the said , engine at a distance of not lees than 50 yards therefrom to warn all riders, dirivers or persons in charge f of cattle of the proximity of the' engine, and, if required so to do. to assist such riders or drivers, or persons in charge of cattle, and the dri- I ,ver of the engine whenever required 1 by any rider or driver *r pci sen in I charge of cattle, shall Stop the engine at some suitable point or place 1 so as to allow suen rider or driver <■ or person to pass with such iuises or cattle.” (b) .To restrict the operation of < Sections 27. 28 ondl 29 of the said 1 By-laws to carts, drays, waggons, i lorries, or other vehicles of the i same class. * (c) To repeal Sections 30 and 49 ; of the said By-laws and substitute 1 therefor provisions making it imp«r- ] ative that the weight of the loads ; c-r contents of vehicles in so far as i they consist of the materials specified in the first schedule to the said « By-laws shall be ascertained by com- i puting such weight in accordance i with the table set out in. the said ■ first schedule. (d) To alter Section 47 of the • said By-laws so as to include coal and lignite. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY Given that the said resolution will be submitted for adoption and confirmation to the ordinary meeting of tha Council to be held at the Coun- 1 cil Chambers situate in Main street, Otautau, on FRIDAY, the 10th day of October 1908, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon. A copy of the proposed Special Order making the Bylaw aforesaid is deposited at the Office of the said Council, Main street, Otlautau, where the same will lie open for public inspection during office hours until the said confirming meeting is held.
