mi JOSEPH ROBINSON. Another of the, old identities of the district passed away at his residence Riverton,’ in the person of Joseph Robinson, aged .sixty-seven. Born at Ashton-under-Tyne, Lancashire, England, deceased and his wife came out to thjg Dominion in the sailing ship George Pollock, landing at the Bluff in iSdS. He then proceeded to Invercargill and worked at his trade for a year, when ho came to Riverton, where he commenced business as plumber and tinsmith, in which he had worked up a wide connection, Deceased, wlio took 'an active inMerest in thte welfare of the community, was for a number of years a member of the Borough Council, and at the time of his clem fee a member of the School and Athenaeum Committees. 'As a volunteer, he took a particular interest in the old Riverton corps, holding the position of captain, eventually retiring with the commission of lieutenant. The deceased gentleman leaves a one son and six daughters (three of whom are married) to mourn their, loss.
