WALLACE AND FIORD HOSPITAL.

The ordinary meeting was attended by the chairman (Jno. Playfair, Esq.), and Messrs Port, Kopcroft, and Thomson. The acting medical superintendent (Dr Stephen) reported as follows:—Patients remaining from end of last month, B—4 males and 4 males. Admitted during the month, 10—7 males and 3 females. Discharged, 8— 5 males and 3 females. Deaths, 1 male. Remaining, 9—5 males, 4 females. Outpatients treated during the month, 15—9 males, 6 females. The one death was Irom acute heart failure occurring in an attack of plurisy. Four operations of a minor nature were performed.

The secretary’s report having been read, it was decided to procure a few loads of gravel to form a road to the rear of the washhouse. Owing to the long-continued cold weather five extra cords of firewood were procured.

The presents for the month were:—Mrs Roberts, old linen; Mr Town (Gummies Bush), 10 bags chaff. The Board not having sent a satisfactory reply to tho Trust’s letter, re deduction, the secretary was instructed to write again declining to accept the reduced requisition The Chairman referred to the death of the late surgeon-superintendent, (Dr Nelson) and moved that a letter of condolence be sent to his family.—Carried. It was resolved to invite applications for the position of sureeon-superintendent. Accounts and wages amounting to £92 8s 4d were passed for payment.

The Trust went into committee to consider a complaint, and on resuming deferred the matter to the 9th inst.
