W. AND F. HOSPITAL.

The annual meeting was attended by Messrs Playfair, Hopcroft, Hare, Port, Petchell and Fraser.

Mr Playfair was elected chairman, tho number four was fixed to form a quorum, and the time and place of meeting arc to be the same as last year. Works Committee : Messrs Hare, Hopcroft, and Playfair. On the motion of Mr Playfair a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring chairman, Mr Ward. ORDINARY MEETING. This was attended by all the members except Messrs Ward and Clarke. The secretary reported that at a meeting of the contributors held on 23th ult, Messrs W Hopcroft and C A. Port had been re-elected trustees

The Surgeon-Superintendent’s report as follows was read and received : —Remaining from previous month, males 15, females 6 ; admitted during the month, males 6, females 1 : discharged, males 6, females 6 ; remaining in institution at end of month, males 15, females 1 ; outpatients treated during the month, males 6, females 5. The operations this month were chiefly surgical. One major operation was performed and several minor operations, for which I must thank Dr Mulholland for his kind assistance. Some rules will be placed before the committee in due ceurse for their consideration in reference to the management of the institution C B Johnstone, coal merchant, wrote stating that he had forwarded a ton of Morley Pit coal with a view to receiving a share of the orders for coal.

A donation of apples from Mr W Hopcroft was received with thanks. The Gospel Christians forwarded £2 6s 6d, the residue from the estate of R. Chambers, deceased, who had been an inmate of the hospital. The Public Trustee had sold tho estate, and sent the money to the Christians, who had paid tho funeral expenses. W R Pankhurst, contractor for the additions, was granted an extension of time.

Accounts amounting to £l6O 14s were passed for payment. The Trust went into committee to consider a notice of motion, tabled by Mr Hare, dealing with the medical superintendent. On resuming the chairman intimated that the motion had been lost.

Mr Hare said now they were out of committee, he would inform the Trust that that would be his lasf meeting, as he would resign and give his reasons for doing so to the Wallace County Council whom be represented. Charges had been made' against tho medical superimtendent and he (Mr Hare) had endeavoured to do his duty to the ratepayers, but had been defeated by the representatives of the contributors. —The Chairman : No charge has been made against tho medical superintendent.— Mr Hare said charges had been made, and ho would make one now, giving date. In face of that, a change was necessary, and he would take steps to put ratepayers in possession of the facts—Mr Fraser said he agreed with Mr Hare, and handed in his written resignation.—Mr Petchell said that after what had transpired he could no longer sit on tho Trust, and intimated that he would tender his resignation. Tho Trust thou adjourned.
