OTAUTAU POSTAL ARRANGEMENTS

It has been represented to us that it would be a great convenience if there were a delivery of papers and correspondence at the Otautau Post Office en Friday evenings after the arrival of the train. To do this would require the office to be kept open for 20 or 30 minutes, and the request is such a reasonable one, that we think steps should be taken to have it formally preferred to the Postal 'Department, when we think it would be granted. Such an arrangement was readily granted to Riverton, and worked well, but has since been abolished on the appointment of a letter carrier. It would be a great convenience to those who have not private boxes, and would materially assist in the conduct of private business. If the matter were mentioned to the member for the district, he could communicate with the department, and if, as has been represented to us, there is a need for such an innovation, there should be no difficulty in obtaining the slight concession.
