WREYS BUSH.

The Wreys Bush School Committee held their annual picnic on New Tear Day, and, needless to say, it was a great success. The picnic was held in the Company's paddocks opposite the homestead where spirts for young and old were indulged in. The young men were kept at a respectable distance, so as not to interfere with the old cronies and children's races. At another end of the field, the young ladies and gents whn did not take part in the sports of tbe day enjoyed themselves bv dancing, kiss in the ring, twos and threes, etc.; whilst amongst the sporting crowd a bookey could be heard roaring at the top of his voice, five to one, bir none ; who'll take a shilling's worth. Then came a smiling young lady, book in hand, accompanied by one of the leading residents, collecting money to keep tbe sport going. It was very amusing to see this young lady smilinglv approach the young men. All of a sudden the young man's hand would dive down into his pocket, up woulr 1 come 2s 6d, and placed in the ladv's hand, then off she would trot t'iumphantlv to the next. In my opinion, it would be much better if the committee were to collect their prize money from the residents in the district previous to their picnic day, instead of strangers. About ten o'clock in the evening the young folks rolled up to ths schoolroom, whero dancing was kept up until three in the morning to music supplied by Mr Purdue while Mr P. Hogan acted as M.C. The ladies were very neatly drcssod and evenly matched, tho belle being as hard to pick as the winner of a Melbourne Cnp. But I will, however, give the young men a few tips. Mis?
