House for the honor they had conferred on him, and remarked that the position to which he had just been elected had not in any way been sought by him.—Mr Brycc said Mr Perceval's acceptance of the Chairmanship of Committees gavo great satisfaction to the Opposition.—The Bill passed through Committee with some verbal amendments, was read a third time and passed. The House rose at 5.30 p.m.

The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Replying to Mr Shrimski, the Hon. Mr, Buckley said the Government could not promise to bring down an amended Licensing Bill this session. Tho Imprest Supply Bill passed all its stages. Mr Buckley moved the second reading of the Legisfcative Council Bill.— Dv Pollen vigorously opposed the Bill, as also did Mr McLean. Sir G. Whitmore generally supported the proposed measure, especially the clause relating to the Council electing their own Speaker.—The debate was adjourned till next day, on the motion of Dr Grace. The Council adjourned at 4.30 till to-morrow.
