WESTERN DISTRICT MARKETS. gTJ. K. Mills and Co, auctioneers, Riverton, report — The sale of the annual draft of sheep from the Glad field estate flock, held by us at Poster’s yards, Thornbury, on the 18th inst. ■was the "most successful os regards prices ever held there. The surplus stock from this estat", which has been disposed of in this district during the past three years bavin f given entire satisfaction to the various purchasers, and a larger number than usual being submitted at this sale, attracted buyers frorn all parts of the district, and some from a considerable distance. Great credit, is due the manager for the excellent condition in which the sheep were yarded, which no doubt contributed greatly towards the success of the sale. Bidding throughout was spirited, aud the competition for the breeding ewts very keen, the supply being much short of the requirements of buyers present, many of them purchasing lambs instead, and a number not getting a sheep. The lot comprising 1400 ewes and 2500 lambs war. chared at the following satisfactory prices;—Ewes, 101 fat mixed ages at 12s; 101 do do, 11s lOd ; 89 do 2-tootb, 11s 7d ; 236 do do, 12s 2d ; 288 eight-tooth, 11s 7d; 56 E'x-tooth, 12s 2d; 76 aged, 10s 2d; 158 do, 7k lOd ; J2O four-tooth, 12s sd; and 173 eight-tooth (small), 10s 3d.
