WREY’S BUSH SCHOOL.

TO THE EDITOR. ' Sir, —My attention has been drawn to a paragraph in the Star of the 14th inst., written by a Wrey’s Bash correspondent, and which, by several inhabitants, is supposed to have emanated from myself. I beg to state publicly that the communication in question was not written by me, nor am I aware who did write it. One assertion in the paragraph would imply that the school committee had, in some way or other, been interfering with mo in the fulfilment of my duties- This, however, is utterly untrue. My Committee have never in the slightest degree interfered with me or my duties. On the other hand, they have given me every encouragement, and have acted, in every sense, like gentlemen.— I am, &c„ Alf. Heatiicote, Teacher. Wrey’s Bush, August 25th, 1889. [There is but small need to bear out what Mr Heathcote states, but it might be stated that our corresuondent, “ Old man of the Bush,” has written us in the same strain. Ho says, “lama much older fox than Mr Heathcote, and I know my fellow settlers much better than he does, and have known some of them since before Mr H. could bo well out of petti—at least knickerbockers. I have also seen eight teachers come, and seven go in about the same number of years.”— Ed. W.S.]
