A meeting will shortly take place between the Executive Commissioners of the Indian and Colonial Exhibition and the A gentsgeneral of the colonies for the purpose of considering the proposal made by the. Prince of Wales with reference to the Imperial Institute.

Serious disturbance-': have taken place in the island of Skye, where the crofters resisted the bailiffs and stoned the police who came to their assistance. A body of marines were landed and charged the mob with fixed bayonets. Six of the crofters were uh innately arrested.

At a meeting of the Executive Commissioners and Agents-General of tho Colonies, for the purpose of discussing the proposed Institute, held yesterday, a vote of thanks was accorded to the Prince of Wales, to whom tho success of tho Exhibition was largely due. Much regret was expressed at the groundless attacks which had been made on Sir Philip Cunliffe Owen, late chairman of the Commissioners of the Exhibition. Sir Graham Berry has summoned a meeting of colonial Agents-General to be held tomorrow, in order to complete a telegram of advice to their Governments relative to tho Imperial Institute. The meeting of Agents-General for the purpose of conipi-i-g a telegram to their respective Governments with reference to the Imperial Institute was held to-day. The message, which has been despatched, states that the Prince of Wales wishes the exhibits of the Colonial Exhibition to remain as a nucleus for the Institute, and requests the permiseion of the Colonial Governments for this purpose. It is announced that the Queen will open the Institute in person in June next. Oct. 28. The Metropolitan police authorities have forbidden tho procession of tho unemployed organised by the Socialists to follow the Lord Mayor’s Show on the 9tb November, In reply to this intimation the Socialist leaders have demanded on what authority this is forbidden. _ Capetown, Oct. 26. A body of Kaffirs from Pondoland, have invaded Resibeland (sic) and burned several kraals in that district. A further force of 10 000 Pondos is assembled on the borders. The Cane Government in consequence of this outbreak are raising a Volunteer force for Oct. 27, The Kaffirs of Pondoland, who had assembled on the borders of Xesiheland, threatening an invasion of that district, have now quietly dispersed. Sir West Ridgeway, who arrived at Cabul yesterday was received by tho Ameer to-day and entertained in a most sumptuous manner. Many of tho border chiefs wore present. INTERCOLONIAL. Melbourne, Ocb. 3G. Mr Suttor, Postmaster-general of New South Wales, has proposed a conference of delegates from the Government of New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, to be hold in Melbourne, for the purpose of discussing a postal service between the three colonies and the United Kingdom. A telegram has been received from the magistrate at Wyndham stating that a ">ooz nugget has been found on Kimberley goldfield. The Argus to-day publishes a communication from its correspondent at the New Hobrides stating that road-making is being carried on by the French troops at those islands, and that their entire proceedings point to a permanent occupation by Franco. Adelaide, Oct. 2G. In the Legislative Council this afternoon the bill legislating the tolalisalor was thrown out. „ . Oct, w/. The latest advices from Waukaringa report that the field will probably give good results on the reefs being worked, but there are signs of the surface diggings giving out. The Government Geologist has sent 14 samples of quartz received from the reefs, of which three proved unpayable, the other eleven yielding from half-an-ounco to ouo and a-half ounce to the ton.
