(Reutbk's Special.) EOME AND FOREIGN. London*, April 30. The Australian Federation enabling Bill passed through Committee in the House of Lords to-day without amendment. Mr Childers, Chancellor of the Kxchcquor, delivered his Budget Statement in the House of Commons to-day. He announced that the revenue during tho past financial year amounted to £88,050,000, and the expendftnre to £85,100,000. The revenue for th,o current year is estimated at £85,000,000, and the expenditure at £88,750,000, exclusive of the naval and military credit of £11,000,000: The estimated deficiency at the end of next year is £14,900,000. To cover this it is proposed to increase the income tax to Bd, the duty on spirits by 2s, and on beer by Is, and to suspend the Public Debt Sinking Fund. May 2. The s.s. Doric, from "Wellington, (March 22) arrived at Plymouth on Friday. The shipment of frozen meat is in good condition. May 3. The Queen returned to Windsor yesterday from the Continent. The Colonial Federation Enabling Bill has been finally passed by the House of Lords. The Loyalists propose to subscribe towards the cost of maintaining a royal residence in Ireland.
