Burnside, Tuesday. Fat Cattle.—22s head forward—a rather full supply ; and as several of the butchers had supplied themselves privately, competition was languid, and prices scarcely equalled those current a fortnight ago. Best bullocks sold at £8 5s to £lO 10s; others, £5 7s 6d to £8 ; cows, £3 to £Blos. Prime beef is quoted at 20s per lOOlbs. »/ j i ; Fat Calves.—4s penned, and sold at 2s 6d, Ss, 10s, 16s, and up to 40s each. Fat Sheep —3505 penned—tho heaviest supply that has been forward for many months, and greatly in excess of requirements. 'The consequence was a decline in value of 2s to 2s 6d per heart, and but for graziers purchasing, many lots would have been turned out unsold. The greater number wore good to prime quality, and best crossbreds brought from 14* to 14s 9d ; one pen very heavy weights, 15s 6 ; others, 10s to 13* 9J; merinos, '/s 6d to 12s 61. Prime mutton is quoted at from 2d to 2id per lb. Fat Lambs. —Market fairly glutted, 1189 being penned. Bidding was slack, and prices ruled low, medium quality bringing little more than store prices. Prices obtained varied from 7s to 12s 6d, Pat Pigs,— Ninety-one penned. Bidding was slack” and prices easier. Porkers sold from 28s to 43s ; bacon pigs, 45s to 62*. Maclean sold at Mosgiel yards on Wedneslav last 114 head three to five-year-old bullocks on account of George M Donald, Esq. (Stirling). Tallow.—There are inquiries for parcels in shipping condition. During the week Donald Eeid and Co. cold 80 casks fairly-well rendered i*l; £27 15s, and some small lots medium to irood at £2O to £26 per ton. Potatoes. —New kidney* arc coming to hand more freely, and are selling at £lO to £ll per ton. Horses— Wright, Stevenson,and Co. report that their weekly sale t ook place on Monday last instead of Saturday. Ihe entries were small, and but little business was transactsd. Doubtless this will be the stats of tbs trave until the holidays are over.
