[Press Association.! Auckland, Friday. A meeting of representatives of churches and temperance organisations, was held to make arrangements for the projected mission of Mr Booth of the Blue Ribbon Army in Auckland. Yolbracht’s New Zealand Tobacco Growingfiind Curing Company resolved at a meeting to-day upon the immediate manufacture of cigars and tobacco. Wellington, Friday. Regulations for preventing collisions at sea, made by the Queen-in-Council, on joint recommendations of Admiralty and the Board of Trade, appear in the Gazette, and an intimation of the Minister in charge of tbe Marine Department that they are in force in New Zealand in regard to all British ships and boats, and are to be substituted for regulations gazetted on Rtth April, 1880. Two additional informations have been laid against Waring Taylor for misdemeanour in connection with his bankruptcy. It is understood that twelve others are pending. At the Appeal Court to-day, in the case of the creditor’s trustee in the estate of Arakatara Te Wera t. B. K. Waters and others (Auckland), the Court dismissed the appeal without calling upon the respondent to answer.
Chbistchukch, Friday. A body was found this afternoon floating near the bathing place in Lyttelton Harbor. It had apparently been in water about ten days, the eyes and nose being wanting. It is that of a man below the medium height, with long dark hair on his head but none on his face, dressed in a tweed suit and Balmoral boots. The body has not been identified. An inquest will be held to-morrow. Dunedix, Friday. The big dredge commenced to work on the bar this morning. This afternoon one of the iron pins gave way, which unrove the whole of her buckets. The diving dress was put on board the tug, and she will proceed down with a diver to try to recover the lost buckets. The buckets can be recovered, but with difficulty. The Public Works Department has accepted the tender of Messrs C. and J. W, Gore for the Hindoo section tunnels contract of the Otago Central line, in the sum of £20,560 11s 4d. There are five tunnels to be built on this section.
