THE BLUE RIBBON NOMINATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I must apologise to Mr Don for my misconception of the aims and object of the Blue Ribbon Union. When I penned mv last letter I, like most people, was under the impression that the object of the Union was to inculcate the principles of total abstinence from ale 'holic drinks. I now- find from Mr Don’s letter that that idea is quite erroneous—that the real object of the Union is a political one. In imitation of the celebrated three tailors, three or four members carried amotion that “The Union ” support. Dr Hodgkinson—without giving the other candidates an opportunity of stating their views. Mr Don a (mils that it would have bc.-n better to have also obtained the views of the other candidates on the questions submitted to Dr Hodgkinson, but pleaded want of time. 1 may point out that replies from the other candidates could have been obtained in as short a time as it look to get an answer from the Doctor; but- it is quite evident that the Union did not desire to consult th t opinions of the other candidates, and it is equally evident that their mind was made up befo-'e ever the Doctor was applied to. Deprecating Mr Don’s offensive personal remarks unent Mr Daniel—l am, Ac.,
Consistency.
