Who will retain office till the first meeting mf the Company. - Bankers —Bake or New Zealand. Solicitors —Wade & Hall. Secretary, and Treasurer— Cuthbeet Cowan. Head Office — Inveegaegill. It is proposed by the promoters of tin’s company to give practical effect to the principle of exporting meat ami other products of Now Zealand, and generally to carry on the business of exporters of every description of produce which may require to be frozen prior to or whilst in course of transit. It is the intention of the promoters that the operations of the company he at present confined to preparing moat and other produce for shipment on account of die owners.

To open up the markets of Europe to such io portant products of New Zealand will not oi'.’ V benefit those already occupying Iho lands of the colony, hut will have the effect of stimulating efforts to make'the lands more •productive as’well ns conduce to the general prosperity of the country. The Americans have entered into similar operations on a large scale, and in Australia companies have beer, successfully formed for tiro snmo purpose. It is hoped that the people of this district will not be less'forward to meet the demands from the markets of Europe for soma of the chief productions of New Zealand. The Provisional Directors purpose to call a meeting of the subscribers as soon as the half of the capital has been subscribed to adopt Articles of Association and elect Directors. It is; estimated that one half of the capital (£5000) will suffice for acquiring suitable premises, providing all requisite machinery, plant and buildings, meeting preliminary expenses, and if necessary providing plant for shipping. The'Provisional Directors' ate anxious that all interested in. the Southland district should support the ■establishment of the proposed Company. It is also desired that immediate application should be made for shares, in order that, there may be no delay in commencing operations. Application for shares may ho made to John Turnbull, Esq., Esk street, Invercargill; Cuthbert Cowan, Esq , Behmore; or any branch of the Company’s Bankers. The Share List null close on Ist August. [CIRCPLASj On issuing the above prospectus, the Provisional Directors beg to lay before intending subscribers the conclusions they have arrived at from information collected. Th.at there are already successfully adopted two economical processes by which meat has been frozen on shore and kept frozen on the voyage from Australia to London —GHffard and Bell-Coleman. _ That mutton and beef taken to .London under the Gifford process arrived in goodcondition, and sold at an average of 6fd and: 7d per pound respectively, and butter low. That shipping companies arc prepared to fit up steamers or sailing vessels with freezing machinery as soon as export companies are ready to "negotiate for such freight. That there is already in London one company (the Local Moat Markets Company) that has "fitted up stores with freezing apparatus, and is prepared to receive frozen produce, and to keep it frozen until a favorable market offers, and generally to act as agents for pro : ducers. That the cost of the operations, &e,, of the Protos shipment wore as follows : MEAT. Freezing meat at Marihyrnong works, packing it in canvas, conveying to s.s. Protos by light ers, &e. id per lb. Freight to London, including all expenses', freezing, Ac., during voyage lid „ Expenses in London and all charges in London ... Ad „ Total expenses on meat ... 2Jd ~ Mutton realised... ... ... 6fd „ Leaving for owners 4jd per lb .net for mutton. In most cases the value-ef the skin will cover the cost of conveying the sheep or ■carcasses to the works. BUTTER. Freight, &e., id per lb. London charges, id per lb—Total, Id per lb. The above charges iincluded an allowance of 25 per emit. p.a. for. deterioration of machinery -while in use. That a suflu-iert charge can he made to owners of produce for receiving, freezing, and acting as agents generally, to cover all expenses and pay a good dividend to shareholders -without hearing 'heavily on producers. The Provisional Directors hope the necessary capital will be subscribed without delay so as to allow ample time to select the best machinery, &.C., an I b * ready 10 prepare a shipment early next season.
