By the imported sire His Excellency, well known in Southland aa the best, blood entire ever introduced here. Dum, Tullop, one of the finest mares of New South Wales, imported thence to Southland by the late Captain Howell. Tullop was the motlier of the famous racehorse Sailor, to whom, on the dam’s side, therefore, His Excellency is brother. His Excellency is a dark chestnut, is strongly and symmetrically built, and better adapted for producing weight-carrying hacks than any animal shown this year. He gained the first prize at the Puhne”*ton and Waikouaiti show in 1872 and 1873. Mrs Nimmo . sold a yearling filly by Prince for £BOO, Mr Boag, of Christchurch, being the purchaser. Prince has an excellent temper, imnir nsa bone, superior ection, is a sure foal gi tu r, and is acknowledged by competent judges to be the best Clydesdale horse ever bred in the colony. Princess Maude the First, grand-dam of Lord Chelmsford, gained 18 first, prizes in Scotland, including the silver medal at Glasgow, when a three year old, for all ages ; in the same year she gained the first, prize at the Highland Agricultural Society at Inverness. She was also awarded first-honors two years in succession at Dumbarton. In Victoria she gained the following prizes:;—First at Port Phillip Farmers’ Society's show iu 1859, ’6O, ’6l, and ’62. First at the Qippsland Agrk cultural Society’s show iu 1863 and 1864. She was bred by Mr VV. Park, Dalmuir, Dumbartonshire, and vtas g*t by Mi’ J. Salmon's.
