Mr E. Evans, manager of tho Plmsnix Quarts Mining Company, Skippers, has received from the School of Minos, Bailarat, particulars of Massers Denny and jßeberts, patent grinder and amalgamating machine. The machines have been tested and much approved of in Victoria and New South Wales. They save from 70 to 90 per cent of gold contained in iron pyrites, and the same amount from tailings and blanketings. Tbe manufacturers state that these machines will be found of mmense value to prospectors, as thy re also arranged to crush stone. The result of several trials are given. “The prospector ” (says ehe prospectus) “w'oo tries his reef with one ot these maebiees will not fail through the last mentioned cause (gold baing associated with base metals.) And should he fail from the first, why he has only to sbfb his machine, —like the steam thresher —to the next staek of quarts,” An endeavour will be made to get tho owners of reefs to contribute to the purchase of one of these to ereet the same in a suitable locality, aud test various samples of quarts and tailings. If the trials give satisfatory results then owners of claims can obtain one or more of them. They will have, however, to wait their turn, for numerous orders are on baud. It has been suggestd to despatch Mr Evans, or some other mine manager ,so as to personally ‘ make him acquainted with the work ng of the machine. We shall be glad to see the suggestion bear fruit, aud UP columns are open for the consideration of tho matter. It whuld prove a grioat boom Jto 111 interest, if a trail of this method should prove that' gold now lost can be obtained} in payable quan-. titics. Tho cost of a machine would be under £2so—“Wakatip Mail.”
