WALLACE & FIORD HOSPITAL.

A meeting of the Committee was• held on Saturday at the Hospital. Present: B'er. T. E. Ash (chair),. Messrs James Reid, Hirst, Printz, Fallow, Port, Pet chell, Daniel, Hopcroft, Casseli (Secretary and Treasurer), and i)r Moncktoa (Surgeon-Superiutendent). The minutes having been read and confirmed,

Mr Daniel explained the circumstarces attending his success, while in Wellington recently, in obtaining from the Native Minuter a promise of a subsidy of £loo,per annum on condition that natives requiring the benefits o£ the institution should be accommodated f herewith ; also that lie (Mr Daniel) should represent the Govern met - ton the Committee. That sum was to be in addition to the £75 per annum already paid the visiting medical officer, to'the Natives'. . Mr Beid thought a written appointment as representative of the Government on the Comint'tee should have been produced by Mr Daniel ''.;',

The Secretary and Treasurer’s salary was fixed at 5 per cent.-on the income of the institution. Several alterations'in the bye-laws were made. The annual meeting of subscribers to be held on the first Saturday in January in each year j also the Board of Management to meet on the first week day of each month, instead of first Saturday in each month as at present! - Mr Reid gave notice that he wpuld'move— That the whole of the Committee retire annually. Ho had heard strong objections urged against the present system of six most regular uttouders remaining on the Committee. The meeting then adjourned. '> BOARD OP MANAGEMENT.
