Very Low. —On Monday last-, two TJniversity students were wrangling in George street, owe contending that it was only proper to say “my wages is high,” while the other noisily insisted that the correct thing was “ my wages are high.” Finally they stopped a corporation laborer, and submitted the question to him : “ Which do you say,‘your wages is high,’ or ‘your wages are high ?” “ Oh ! to the divil vvid yer nonsense,” ho said, resuming his pick, “yer nayther ov yer right; me wages i« low, tuudhoring low.” The rabbits having devoured everything eatable in the Mallee Scrub are now advancing on the VYimmora district in Victoria, and are threatening ruin to the pastoral tenants and selectors. Some of the stations are already being worked at a loss. The Minister of Lands has been authorised to spend £ISOO in the suppression of the evil, the pas'oral tenants and settlers promising to contribute a similar amount. A Bill will be introduced next session to deal with the subject in a comprehensive manner.
