At the native meeting held atparawai, Thames amongst other valuable presents given by TaipariV and Paraone’speople, who include the principal owners of the gold-field, were 3 beautifully-wor hied Maori mats, which were lined with Bank of New Zealand notes. One. of them bad 100 notes attached, and there were 50 attached to the other. It is stated by the Gaulois that a fashionable Paris dentist is now in prison charged with introducing slow poison into the mouths ot rich patients at the instigation of their heirs, and thus committing many murders.
