EXTRACT FROM BYE-LAWS OF THE* HAND OF FRIENDSHIP DIVISION OF THE SONS OF TEMPERANCE. ... THAT tho Division shall consist of limited number of male members, and sHWw bo called the “ Hand of Friendship Division, and shall form a branch of the Notional Division of tho Sous of Temperance of Australasia, and. shall have for its object tho propagation of tho principles of total abstinence from all intoxicating drinks, and tho raising of funds by initiations or entrance fees, contributions, fines, donations, Ac., and by interest for capital, for the following purposes, viz. : —For insuring a sum of money to be paid on the death of a member, and also for insuring a sum of money to be paid tea member on the death of his wife j for rendering assistance to members when sick and not able to follow theijr employment j for supplying medical .assistance and medicine to the members and their for granting temporary relief to the members in distress ; and for defraying 'file necessary expenses of management. h \ V Every candidate previous to initiation shall pay one-half ef the; initiation fee and the bolaueo within two months, and no member .shall receive any benefits until the whole of his initiation fees are paid,.
