Auckland, Juno 11. Nayson’s Settlers’ Hotel, Whangarei, lias been: burned down. It was insured for £3OO in the Royal, and £3OO in the Imperial. Dunedin, June 11. A largo fire, the most destructive, .for years past, occurred in Stafford-street. It started in Mr. G. E. Reid’s store, but the origin is unknown. The goods of tno Mosgiol Woollen Factory wore kept on the same promises. The following arc the insurances;—Mosgiol Wooden Company, £2,000 in the Now Zealand, and-£I,OOO in the Standard ; Mr. Reid, £3OO in the Now Zealand, £I,OOO in the South British, and £I,OOO in the Standard. Numbers of buildings were threatened with destruction. There was great excitement, and the Eire Brigade worked •well. 20,000 shares in the now Colonial Bank hare been placed in Otago and Southland alone.
