St. Augustine’s Church, Napier, was filled with guests and friends last evening to witness the marriage of Eveline Isabelle, eldest daughter of Mr -and Mrs George Cooke, Bower street, Napier, and lan Arthur, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. Crombie, Balmoral Terrace, Wellington. A surprise visit was paid to the Waipawa vicarage on Friday evening by members of St. Peter’s vestry, the Sunday school staff, and members of the congregation, to farewell Mr Neville .Drake, who is leaving for Christchurch to study for Holy Orders. A very jolly time was spent in playing various games and competitions, the vocal items were rendered by Mrs A. J. Rathbone and Mr and Mrs W. T. Drake. During the evening Mr G. Taylor, in -a short speech, said that as Mr Drake was leaving soon ,they had taken this opportunity of wishing him every success in his chosen career. He would be sadly missed in Waipawa, where he had been a member of the Sunday school staff and of great assistance in the parish generally, and his place would be hard to fill. As a small token of the great esteem in which he was held Mr Taylor then presented the guest of honour with a very fine travelling rug. Mr N. Drake thanked his well-wishers for their kind remarks, and the gathering then joined heartily in singing "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
