Ex-Pupils’ Association

The general annual meeting of the Waipukurau District High School Ex-Pupils’ Association is to be held in the Primary School on Friday, February 29, at 7.30 p.m. Hawke’s Bay Autumn Show Intending exhibitors at the forthcoming Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Autumn Show to bei held on the showgrounds at Tomoana are notified in this issue that entries close with the secretary (Mr A. M. Retemeyer) on Thursday, March 5, also that schedules may be obtained free of charge from the secretary, P.O. Box 145, Napier. Dog fanciers are notified that a separate schedule is issued for this section, and when writing for same should mention their requirements. In addition to the other competitive classes, dancing and piping, for which several cups and medals are offered in addition to the cash prizes, axemen’s events and a number of horse competitions are scheduled.

Week-End Cricket

Hatuma won by eight wickets in a week-end game played against Buffaloes (Waipawa). In the first innings the Buffs made 108, the best scorers being Hooper 48, Sharp 15, Robertson 16, not out, and Bainbridge 11. Cowan took five wickets for 21 and Culling five for 40. Hatuma replied with 72, Cowan making 24 and Chapman 19. Hooper took five wickets for 17 and Verran three for 13. The Buffs were all out for 1 20 in the second innings. Cowan took seven for 11 and Chapman two for eight. Hatuma made 122, winning by eight wickets. The best scores were: L. Cowan 17, Chapman 63, not out, and Thompson 11.
