THE QUEEN’S CARPET
It is the present intention of the Queen that the Chinese carpet to be presented to Their Majesties by the members and staff of the Port of London Authority shall be placed in
the Chinese Room at Buckingham Palace. It was for this reason that she selected an Oriental design for
the carpet. This apartment has always been a favourite with Her Majesty, who usually dines there when she is alone at the Palace. It contains some I priceless pieces of lacquer work that 1 have been Royal heirlooms f or . many years. There are also some very fine specimens of native p O f. tery here.
