VAN STRUCK BY TRAIN
A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE ONE MAN INJURED (Per Press Association) LEVIN, Last Night. A miraculous escape from death was experienced by two Levin men, Messrs Robert Anderson and J. Corrigan, when the baker’s van they were ridinjg in 'was struck by the south-bound Napier express at the Roslyn road level crossing, one mile north of Levin, this afternoon. The van, a new one, was proceeding to negotiate the crossing on the main highway when it was struck on tho right-hand side by the train. Nearby residents heard the crash and rushed to the scene. As far as is known, Mr Corrigan received a broken collarbone and abrasions; Mr Anderson escaped injury, but suffered from .shock. The van< was practically smashed to matchwood.
