MRS. TAREHA BEATS MRS. LUKE

The Hawke’s Bay Maori amateur golf tournament was concluded yesterday at Waimarama, when the weather w again ideal for play. Throughout the three days of the tournament the conditions were excellent for golf and play of a high standard was witnessed. The finals in the various events were played yesterday. In the men’s championship final W. T. Kuru defeated A. Gillies after a close match. Mrs. K. Tareha won the women’s championship fairly easily, defeating Mrs. M. Luke, seven and six. The tournament was a most successful one and much credit is due to the honorary secretary, Mr. L. Gillies, for his complete arrangements. The hospitality extended to visiting players was most generous. Following are the results: —
