PERSONAL AND GENERAL
FAREWELL TO POSTAL OFFICER

Mr. Victor C. Vaughan who is leaving the Takapau Post Office to be transferred to a higher position in the service, was met on Monday morning by the business people, and his friends in the district, being presented with a travelling rug, also other gifts.
Mr. W. Cuthbertson, in formally handing over the gifts, spoke of Mr. Vaughan’s good qualities, and the very efficient service he had rendered while at Takapau, wishing him
every success in his new appointment. The speaker said he had every confidence that Mr. Vaughan would go
on improving his position. Messrs. J. W. Cato, J. P. O'Dowd, P. Mullan and B. Blair also paid a tribute to the excellent service rendered by the departing official. Mr. Vaughan made a very feeling and suitable reply, expressing thanks for the kindness and appreciation shown during his sojourn in Takapau. The Mount Herbert Golf Club visited Takapau over the week-end, with 24 players, when a very enjoyable friendly game was played, the home team coming out the winners.
