SECOND EDITION NOT GUILTY
OF CAUSING DEATH
ACQUITTAL OF J. PENDER
After a retirement of only 16 minutes, the jury returned with a verdict of “Not Guilty’’ in favour of John Sylvester Pender, who was charged at the Supreme Court in Napier yesterday with negligently driving his car and causing the death of a young man named Bruce Summersby. Mr. Justice Blair was on the Bench. Evidence was called by the Crown and the defence. The jury retired, and after deliberating for 16 minutes returned with a verdict of “Not Guilty.”
