Information concerning the Pahiatua track, the deviation being used by motorists proceeding from Palmerston North to Pahiatua and Hawke’s Bay while the Manawatu Gorge is blocked by slips, has been supplied by the Automobile Association. “Some motorists travelling from Palmerston North have gone astray on the summit of the hill,’’ states the association. “At this point do not take the road to the left but follow the sign leading to Pahiatua. The Ballance road to Woodville is the next turn to the left rand is properly sign-posted. Although the distance from Palmerston North to Pahiatua by the track is six miles shorter, the travelling time is about the same. The trip from Palmerston to Woodville by the track will take from thirty to forty-five minutes longer than the trip through the gorge.’’
