The number on the roll is 1330 an increase of 61 on the number contained in the last roll which was compiled for the 1933 elections. Mayoral Thanks In the advertising columns of today’s issue appears an expression of thanks to the citizens of Waipukurau from the Mayor (Mr I. W. N. Mackie) as to his being re-elected, unopposed, to the office he has held for the past two years. Foresters Meet The bi-imonithly meeting of Court Ruahine A.O.F. was held last evening, C7R. Bro. N. Taylor presiding. After general business, which included a report of the very successful meeting held at Onga Onga, the meeting adjourned for supper and indqor bowls. ’'R

Burlesque at Sanatorium An enjoyable burlesque entertainment was staged ait the Pukeora Sanatorium last evening by a number of ipatients under the direction of Mr J. Boyce. Music was provided by the Waipukurau Orchestra under Mr E. Malkin. The programme included many bright and humorous sketches and was greatly appreciated by the patients, staff and visitors. At the conclusion supper ws served. Shooting Season Opens

Yesterday morning at Otane ’broke fine and clear after a sharp frost, for the opening of the shooting season. Although the birds were flying high reports so far to hand indicate that sportsmen generally met with a fair measure of success. One party, Messrs Scheele (2), Walker, Sawyer and P. Pilcher secured the creditable total of 100 birds for five guns. St. Andrew’s Chrysanthemum Show There is evidence that the themurn Show to be held next Tuesday in St. Andrew’s Hall will surpass “any precious show. Entries are coming in freely and some of the blooms are in excellent condition notwithstanding the lateness of the Show. Some of the blooms would do credit to any show. Patrons are advised not to miss this beaultiful exhibition. Given a fine day it is .safe to state that the public will be able to spend a very pleasant time. For tho convenience of exhibitors the hall will be onen from 10.30

Jubilee Celebrations

The Waipukurau celebrations of ’the Royal Silver Jubilee commence in the Municipal Theatre at 1 p.m. on Monday with prayers by the Rev. W. R. Hutchison, M.A., followed by loyal addresses, the speakers being Messrs A. E. Jull M.P. and A. C. Russell, chairman of the Waipukurau Cou ity Council. At 1.30 p.m. a parade to the Waipukurau District High School Sports Ground (Farm Road) will follow. At 2 p.m. an attractively varied sports programme for children and adults will take place. The day will conclude with a chilure u’s monster Jubilee tea in the Municipal Theuffl at 4.30 p.m. Detailed are at present in the course of circulation. Local Odt'feUowship At a well attended meeting of Loyal Tavistock Lodge of Manchester Oddfellows held last night, Bro' O. Bruhn, N.G., presiding, a candidate for membership was initiated. It was resolved that District Bro. N. J. McKay (Waipawa) be congratulated on his re-election as a member of the New Zealand Board of Directors, also that he, in association with Bro. H. W. Gallagher, P.G., Lecture Master of Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, and other officers, be invited to conduct the next installation of officers. Rinks from the Abbotsford Lodge are to be invited to alttend the next local meeting t nd play the opening match in connection with the inauguration of indoor bowls.
