COOKS AND STEWARDS SHIPS TO BE MANNED (Per Press Association). " . WELLINGTON, Last Night. Late this afternoon the secretary of the Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union (Mr Kennedy) issued tho following statement: —• » . . “Following on a conference with the managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd. (Mr N. S. Falla), the Cooks’ and Stewards Union has agreed to man the Makura and other vessels at present requiring providore hands. “It has been further arranged that a joint conference with representatives of the Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union and the Seamen ’s Union shall be held on a date in July, to be mutualy arranged,. to discuss, / the question of wages and other matters concerned.”
