Mr King, of Messrs Mitchell and King, Wellington, contractors for the new traffic bridge, is in Waipukurau to-day. - ■ Mrs J. D. Ormond has been appointed as the Wallingford delegate to attend the Dominion Conference of the New Zealand Women's Institute to bo held in July. Mr G. E. Gideon, who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis, left the Waipukurau Hospital yesterday, and is sipending a brief holiday in Napier, recuperating. Mr Mayo, president of the Port Ahuriri Bowling Club has been elected to a seat on the New Zealand Bowling Council. This is the first occasion on which a Hawke’s Bay player has had this honour and Mr Mayo’s success will be very pleasing to .all bowlers in the Hawke’s Bay Centre, where he is deservedly popular. Mr Mayo has had 20 years’ experience in the playing and administrative side of bowls and for several years has been president of the Port Ahuriri Bowling Club. As a player Mr Mayo ranks among the best in Hawke’s Bay district and has been successful as a skip in local and Dominion Tournaments.
