WEDDING CEREMONY
FLANAGAN—WILLIAMS IN PALMERSTON NORTH The wedding took place on Wednesday, April 4th, at St. Patrick *3 Church, Palmerston North, of Nancy Edrie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Williams, “Penana,” Wanstead, and Mr Bede Harrington Flanagan, a popular boxer, of Palmerston North. The Rev. Father Jansen officiated. As she entered the church on the arm of her father the bride looked charming in her model frock of rust wool matalasse, trimmed with frills and fawn georgette, with hat to tone, also skin shoes. Attending as matron of honour Mrs Peter Nielsen chose a dainty black georgette and lace frock with a black chip straw hat. She also wore a string of rock crystal heads, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Bernard Williams, brother of the bride, was best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. H. Taylor, Ferguson street, where the usual toasts were honoured. Mr and Mrs Williams received the guests, Mrs Williams wearing a frock of wind-swept velvet. Mrs Flanagan, mother of the bridegroom, wore a smart black ensemble with matching hat. The happy couple received many handsome presents, cheques and telegrams. Among the gifts was a beautiful two-tiered wedding cake, the gift of Mr and Mrs Walter Scott, of Wanstead. When the bride appeared for travelling she was wearing also a beautiful musquash coat, the gift of the bridegroom. Her gift to him was a travelling rug. They intend to make a tour of the North Island.
