CONTEST ENDS IN DRAW
PROFESSIONAL BOXING HUGHES v. FITZGERALD (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A professional light-weight boxing contest between Archie Hughes, of Auckland ,and Jack Fitzgerald, of Australia, ended in a draw, the judges disagreeing and the referee giving the decision, which met with a very mixed reception. Fitzgerald proved himself to be the cleverest defensive boxer seen in Auckland for some years, his opponent being at a loss to know how to hit him. Whenever Fitzgerald chose to open out he piled up points with a straight left, varied occasionally with a right cross, and ho appeared to hold a comfortable margin at the finish.
