Mrs Samuel is a Christchurch victor to Waipukurau and is the guest her daughter, Mrs E. D._ Rice. Miss A. Patterson ,of Hatuma, is at present an inmate of the Waipukurau Hospital . Messrs H. and H. of Hatuma, are on a motor tour(|ihW& Waikarcmoafta district. Miss Doris Craig, Takapau, fe spending a holiday with her sister, Mirs G. Horton Smith ,of Wellington. Mrs R. Dassler and Mr Basil Dassler,. Onga Onga, are spending a holidayin the King Country. Mr Parker is staying with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Bert Parker, Onga Onga. . Mrs R. Pimm and Mr A. Pimm, of Wellington, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. M. Carr, Onga Onga. Miss E. MacDonald, of Springhill, Onga Onga, has returned homo after spending several days as the guest of Miss I. A. Cossar, Waipawa.

Miss Rewa Todd, of .Waipukurau, who has been visiting' Mrs J. Todd, Makiriki, is now staying with her aunt, Mrs R. A. Grummitt, Wanganui. Master G. Wilson, son of Mr and Mrs J. G. Wilson, of Hatuma, was admitted to the Waipukurau Hospital on Saturday evening. The death has occurred of Mrs. Elizabeth Maxton (nee Tinney), wife, of Mr Mark Afaxfon,. J.P. ,of Greytown, in her 87th year. Mr. and Mrs. W. Marshall ,who have been residents of Waipukurau for a year past, arc leaving shortly for the Wairarapa. Mr and Mrs W. Goodwin and family whho have been staying with Air and Airs A. Riddell and Air and Mrs E. T. Haldane, returned to Wellington yesterday. Air Alan Harris, of the ' Napier branch, of the Public Works Department, is to go to Wairoa to fill the post made vacant by the transfer of Air Trevor Smith, -resident engineer at Wairoa to the Public Works Department, to Greymouth.

There passed away in the Waipukurau Public Hospital on Sunday, an old resident of Waipawa in the person of Mr Edward Mitchell, 'aged 77 years. He leaves a widow as the chief mourner. The late Mr Mitchell, whose demise was not unexpected, had been for a lengthy period under treatment.

Keith (Hastings), a past presidential officer of the District as well as U.DF.B.A. (N.Z. parent body), who had 40 years service, and his son. Fireman W. Keith. The latter has served for 24 years. With the 28 years credited to his uncle, Fireman T. Keith, the trio can claim a remarkably fine aggregate of over 92 years. ;

Having accepted an offer of a business engagement in England, K. 0. James, the well known Wellington and New Zealand cricket represetative, will leave Wellington on Friday by the Rangitane for London. There will be. genuine regret at the loss of another of New Zealand’s leading cricketers. The move will give him employment which, he has been unable to secure in his profesion in New Zealand and in which he, will pursue his studies. James does not go as a cricketer under engagement to one of tho clubs in England, but his interest in the game is such that he is bound to be seen on the English cricket fields.

The death occurred recently at Wellington after a long illness of Mr A. K. Campbell, a member of the engineering staff of the Wellington City Council. Prior to the war Mr Camp,bell was for many years engaged with private surveyors in various parts of the North Island. He was on active service in Franco for some considerable time as a member of tho 2nd Canterbury Regiment. On his return to New Zealand he was engaged with tho Public Works Department on survey work at Mangahao, subsequently joining the service of the Wellington corporation in 1920. His first work for this body was in connection with the survey of the Arongorongo tunnel. He has since been engaged in the drainage and waterworks branch of the city engineer’s department. Mr Campbell was a popular and highly respected officer, arid his death is deeply regretted by his fellow-officers. He leaves a wridow and threo children. Mrs D. Griffen, Otane, is a sister of the late Air Campbell.
