PIGEON RACING
THE WAIPUKURAU CLUB FLOCK RACE FROM MASTERTON The Waipukurau Homing Pigeon Club flew a flock race from Masterton, for young birds, on Saturday. Seven fanciers entered for this contest and the stationmaster (Masterton ' reported liberating the birds at 11 a.m. in fine weather. The day was a favourable one for the racers, but the times were slow. The successful pigeon, Reliable, owned by Mr. Fryer, and bred by Mr. A. E. Chapman, arrived home at 3 p.m., closely followed by Mr. C. Woods’ Zipp and Unexpected. The other members homed birds, but failed to hand in theii* clocks. Results: Mr. A. Fryer’s “Reliable,” 586 yards per minute 1 Mr. C. Woods’ “Zipp,” 574 y.p.m. 2 Mr. C. Woods’ “Unexpected,” 570 y.p.m 3
