BUTTER STILL QUIET CHEESE PRICES STEADY - There was little change in the London butter market last. week. The demand was slow, with a tendency for stocks to increase. Deliveries of New Zealand butter were 1701 tons, compared with 2018 tons for the previous week. The quantity of New Zealand butter in store moved up to 11,112 tons compared with 10,572 tons at the end of the previous week and 8200 tons a year ago. The Great Imperial Economic Committee’s estimate of the stocks of all butters is 1,009,216 boxes, compared with 892,650,000 boxes a year ■igo. New Zealand salted butter was quoted on Friday at 72s to 73s a cwt., compared with 73s to 74s a week previously. A year ago the. price was 65s to 675. Danish butter at 85s spot shows a decline of 7s on the week, the f.o.b. quotation being 62s as against 65s a week ago. Australian at 70s to 71s is 2s a cwt. below the New Zealand level. The cheese market is quiet, but fairly steady. Friday’s quotations being 6d a cwt. down on those of the previous week. A year ago New Zealand white cheese was selling at 37s to 38s, or 6s to 6/6 a cwt. below the current price.
