EARLY ELECTION?
“Wish Father to Thought” REPLY TO LABOUR LEADER MR. COATES’ STATEMENT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Referring to Mr. M. J. Savage’s suggestion of an early election and implied dissent ion in Cabinet, the Hon. J. G. Coates said that no doubt the idea was very dear to Mr. Savage’s heart, but he agreed with the Prime Minister that the wish was father to the thought. A warning, to members of the Labour Party to be prepared in the event of an early appeal to the electors was given by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage, in replying to a welcome by the Mayor, Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., to delegates to the annual conference of the party at Christchurch.
