Why Men Go to Church.
“The reason why men go to church is largely because of the influence of womanhood —if it w r ere not for womanhood Christianity would have perished long ago,” stated a non-church-goer during the discussion at St. Luke’s Church on “Why Men Do Go to Church.” Men had religion drilled into them from the dradle, he said, and this was the principal influence in its continuation. Replying, the Rev. O. W. Williams said that although the remarks were not intended as a compliment, in actuality they were one of the finest that could be paid. Women throughout the ages had been a strong influence in the progress of the church. (Applause.)
