Herriot (late Prime Minister of France), who is voyaging bo Washington, describes the German protest regarding the speeches made against Germans in the House of Commons debate as a new blunder added to so many others. "Besides,” ho says, "one cannot defy Israel with impunity. ’ ’ He praises members of the House of Commons condemnation of the revision of treaties in view of the present state of Germany. M. Herriot declares that Britain has awakened to the fact that the FourPower Pact has been thrown overboard "We can,” he proceeds, "breathe 'again. The vigorous British democracy now understands what is hidden under the sophism of treaty revision. Its remarkable volte face is facilitating our work at Washington.”
