Bulk Electric Power.
The Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union has decided to support the action of certain electric power boards in endeavouring to secure a reduction in the cost of bulk power, as supplied by local power boards. One delegate at the meeting contended that the time had arrived for a revision of the whole system in power board charges. Mr Polson said that the department was not malting a profit and a price reduction would only fall back upon the Consolidated Fund. Mr Mulholland said that the main problem involved was a question of re-distribu-’ tion of charges. Considerable relief could be given without throwing a ’burden upon the cities.
