Napier Borough Elections ALL OFFICES CONTESTED 20 NOMINEES FOR THE COUNCIL Nominations in connection with the forthcoming municipal and local body elections at Napier closed at noon yesterday, and in the case of the Borough Council and vacancies for the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board and Napier Harbour Board there will be big fields. For the eleven seats on the council 20 nominations have been received, four of which are from retiring councillors. For the three Vacancies on the Hospital Board seven nominations have been received, the three retiring members seeking reelection. Among the new aspirants to this body is Dr. James Allan Berry, who for a number of years was medical superintendent at the Napier Hospital. Seven nominations have been received for the three vacancies on the Napier Harbour Board. It will be noted that one of the retiring members, Mr. J. C. Bryant, after eight years’ service on the board is not seeking re-election. For the Mayoralty the retiring Mayor is being opposed by Mr. C. O. Morse, who for a number of years has been chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board and following the disaster of February, 1931, was chairman of the Napier Earthquake Committee. H. E. Grainger, R. D. Brown. WAIPAWA Air G. Hunt was yesterday re-elect-ed for the third term as Mayor of Waipawa. It was reported a few days ago that he was to have opposition, but it did not materialise. Nine nominations were received for the six vacancies on the council — namely, Messrs A. S. Boyd-Turner, S. A. Dailey, F. Eagle, E. R. Hutchings, W. J. Harris, H. T. Limbrick, W. S. Thackeray, R. N. Verran and W. E. Yates. Of these six were members of the old council, two have had experience in past years and one is a new aspirant. An interesting contest should result. For the position of representative of the borough on the Hospital Board and the Power Board, Mr V H. Rathbone was re-elected unopposed. DUNEDIN CANDIDATES (Per Press Assocaaticu) DUNEDIN, Last Night. There are five nominations for the City Mayoralty, viz.: R. S. Black (present Mayor), F. W. Mitchell (Deputy Mayor), Rev. E. T. Cox, C. M. Moss, and M. O’Rorke (Communist). Twenty-six candidates, including full Citizens’ and Labour tickets, are standing for twelve seats on the City Council. The Labour Party is not contesting the Mayoralty. AUCKLAND MAYORALTY - Mr G. W. Hutchison, the sitting Mayor, and Mr H. G. R. Mason, M.P., have been nominated for tbe City Mayoralty. There are 43 candidates for the 21 seats on the City Council?
