In the autumn championships Hopman defeated the New South Wales colt, McGrath, in one of the most thrilling matches seen in Victoria by 4/6, 3/6, 8/6, 6/2, 9/7. The Australian Davis Cup team sails for Europe to-morrow. Crawford, the captain, is quite optimistic, and declares that prospects were never better for the Australians.
