GIRL ASSAULTED
<s> STRUCK OVER THE HEAD THE ASSAILANT ESCAPES (Per Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 18. A serious and inexplicable assault on Miss Molly McLachlan was made in Maori road last evening. She left her home in Cargill street, before 9 o ’clock to meet a friend and was in a lonely part of the road when a man suddenly appeared and struck her over the head. He then attempted to throttle her, but apparently was disturbed by a passing car, and so he threw her over a bank and rushed away. The girl managed to reach a nearby house, where a doctor had to put stitches in a wound. The police found on the spot a beer hottie, which apparently was the weapon used.
