FINE OF £lOO IMPOSED PALMERSTON NORTH CASE PALMERSTON N„ Last flight. Pleading guilty to a charge of frequenting Main Street for the purpose of betting Alfred Dewar, commission agent, was fined £lOO by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Senior-Detective Quirke said defendant had been fined £5O in 1930 for keeping a common gaming-house. If defendant could afford to lay £lOO doubles he could afford a fine of £lOO.
