CALL WITHHELD
From Rev. Theo. Paterson CONGREGATIONAL ACTION NOT TO COME TO WAIPUKURAU (Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. When the adherents of the Halkett Presbyterian charge heard that a call was coming from Waipukurau to their minister, the Rev. Theo Paterson, they met and expressed the unanimous hone that Mr. Paterson would not. leave the charge. When the call came before the Christchurch Presbytery a deputation attended as commissioners from Halkett to urge the wishes of the congregation that Mr. Paterson should stay there. The commission said that the meeting at Halkett had been very representative and the decision was emphatic. The congregation would de all in its power to retain him. The Rev. Mr. Paterson said he did not wish to act against the wishes of the people of his charge, and the Presbytery resolved that the call should not be placed in his hands.
