BEAUTY

SUM Al EK WEAR AND TEAR It is a great mistake not to take immediate steps to prevent, our holiday wrinkles from becoming permanent, for the -winter, on its way, is just as hard on the skin, so autumn provides an excellent breathing space in which we should repair the ravages on one season and prepare ourselves for the next. Tf your skin is greasy you will probably have acquired fewer wrinkles but, even so, you will need cream and massage for the use of a good treatment will tend to make tho oil-glands act normally and generally freshen up the appearance of your complexion. One of the best preliminary treatments is an almond meal and egg-mask. Be sure to cleanse your face thoroughly -with soft water and soap before using it, otherwise impurities will not have the chance of escaping from the pores, but will be kept in, and your mask will do more harm than good. This mask is rather an undertaking, but it is so efficacious that it is a. pity not to take tho trouble it involves, for it is very cheap. Make a mask out. of fine gauze, with holes for your eyes, nose and month. Then make a paste of the white of on egg and almond meal. This will he very thick and you must thin it. out with some pure rose-water, so that it spreads easily. Then make a ‘Sandwich” of tho paste and two layers of gauze and lay it on your face. Now, the crux of the treatment lies in applying towels wrung out of hot water upon the mask. They must be very hot. but not too damp, and they must lie renewed as frequent intervals before the face has time to cool. This treatment should take about ten minutes, and tho face should he rinsed afterwards with a cooling lotion and gently massaged with cold cream before you go to bed. Tf you have an very obstinate wrinkles, such as those between tho eyebrows and round tho mouth, you can paint them with the white of egg every

evening for <i week, leaving it on for about, ten minutes. Thon take it off and apply extra massage to .the wrinkles with a very, very soft and watery cold cream. Use a good deal and pat it in rather than rub it. Then remove ’ill trace with a. soft tissue before going to bed.

If your arms ami legs are -howbig

signs of summer wear and tear treat them to a good massage with olive oil after your bath. Rub it in thoroughly, and then dust over with talcum powder to prevent your nightgown becoming stained.
