AN AXLE BREAKS
U.S MAIN TRUNK TRAIN PASSENGERS NOT INJURED (Per Press Association) TAUMARUNUI, Last Night. A mixed goods and passenger train which reached Taumarunui at 1 p.m. from the north, met with a mishap at mid-day near Ongarue, when an axle in a coal truck broke and the truck jumped the rails. There were eight passengers aboard but none was injured. They were brought to Taumarunui later by a special train. The line was cleared in two hours.
