CARNIVAL PAIRS THE CONCLUDING ROUNDS The concluding rounds in the section play of the Napier Carnival pairs bowling tournament were played yesterday in beautiful weather. The greens rolled out in excellent condition, and some very interesting games were witnessed by a large assemblage of “bankers” on the Napier and Wairere greens. PLAY ON THE PORT GREEN VETERANS' DAY CELEBRATION Veterans' day was celebrated on the Port Ahuriri bowling green yesterday afternoon, when teams from Hastings, Kia Toa, Bluff Hill, Port Napier and Wairere participated in an enjoyable afternoon's sport. Wairere, the veteran button holders, were balloted to play against a Hastings team, and were defeated by 21 to 12. Wairere have held the veterans’ honours since 1931.
